Imagine that a friend or family member who is unfamiliar with your faith asks you to summarize the gospel. She isn’t looking for a laundry list of beliefs and dogmas. She has no interest in you reciting the Apostles’ Creed. She wants to get to the heart of the matter. She doesn’t want to mess around. “In seven words or less,” she says, “tell me what you believe.”
What would you say? How would you put it? What seven words would you choose?
During Sundays in Lent, we’re going to prepare to celebrate Holy Week (Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday) by sharing why Holy Week is so important. Our sermon series will serve as an opportunity to consider the many ways in which the Scriptures proclaim Jesus.
Each Sunday will give us another word to explain to our friend or family member just what we believe and why it is so vital.
